Pascal Cribier garden, Newbury, Berkshire
Pascal Cribier
Pascal Cribier was a well-known and prominent French landscape gardener of his generation. Woolton House Garden is the only garden in the UK designed by the late Pascal Cribier, and is designed to reflect the style of Mondrian paintings. Inspiration is sourced from botanical gardens and has features reminiscent of a traditional 'mughal' or 'mogul' garden. The most striking feature for me is certainly the array of colour within the garden in this shot, with the middle-ground pallete of cool purple and greyish tones, contrasting with the vibrant orange and pink foreground. The box hedge seperates these palettes and adds a rigid boundary between the edible produce, and visual planting of the garden.
