THIRD NATURE (Tredje Natur) is a Copenhagen based architectural design practice who specialise in sustainable, humane design to combat the man-made problems of global warming. In Malmö, Sweeden, in the Norra Bunkeflo area, Tredje Natur have designed a neighbourhood adapted to meet the UN’s World Goals and reach the 2030 goals of the Paris Agreement. To do this they have planned a central green corridor that connects Bunkeflostrand’s nature spaces, providing room for rainwater, urban biotopes, recreational connections, and green mobility. All housing units have access to the green and bounded living space, and the topography of the design (sloping downward from the north) screens noise coming from the motorway, as well as allowing for south-facing roof terraces. I am drawn to the visuals the practice use, with luscious, biodiverse planting beds and a subtle glowing lighting that makes the area visually appealing.
