WEST 8 - Kronsberg-Süd

WEST 8

Kronsberg-Süd:

Hanover, Germany

Looking at West 8's portfolio, this image from the Kronsberg-Süd development stood out to me. Tree lined streets have active green transport routes linking areas. The green infrastructure lining the streets becomes a sustainable drainage system. It also creates community green space, making the the area more aesthetically pleasing, increasing wellbeing health and investment. Buildings are rendered with green roofs, and a main aim of this project is to retain runoff and storm water. Biological-diversity and rainwater retention (along with numerous other aspects) are both things I would like to achieve in the Blackfriars project by implementing the use of green infrastructure. Kronsberg-Süd has some parallels to our Blackfriars development in the fact that the space forms a link between two areas, the former Expo site and the existing residential area at Kronsberg-Mitte. The visuals are clean and modern, with a muted colour pallet that makes the vegetation stand out compared to the buildings.
